Mrs. Lula Mae (Weaver) Busha, age 87, of Lavonia, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born April 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Tom & Ada Beebe Weaver, the wife of the late Robert Lee Busha who passed away in 1988.
She was a former writer of the Double Branches Church News that was featured in the Lavonia Times, a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Lavonia Senior Center. She also worked with Legacy Link at Lavonia Elementary School for a number of years. She was a member of Double Branches Baptist Church where she was active as long as health permitted.
She has been a resident of Hartwell Health Care Center for almost five years.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Ann Busha of Hartwell Health Care Center and Imogene Busha Price of Toccoa and granddaughters: Chanda Price of Toccoa and Candace Price Cane and husband Andrew of Charlotte NC, three great granddaughters, Shelby Cane, Amelia Cane, and Lydia Cane all of Charlotte, NC. One son: Tony Busha and wife Diane of Canon and grandson: George Moon and wife Christy and Samantha and Atalie of Lavonia. One sister-in-law: Mae Cawthon of Toccoa.
She was preceded in death by son-in-law Terry Price, sister, Louise Beebe, and brother, William Weaver.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens - North. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Steve Beebe, James Weaver, Chris Buffington, Johnny Humphrey, Nathan Simpson, and Kelvin Simpson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The family will be at their respective homes. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to American Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington DC 20090-6011.
