On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, Lynette Goran, 58, of Hartwell, courageously lost a three-year battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Pat Goran; son, Jason Goran of Dallas, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Dan Miller, of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Avery Miller; and two sisters, Terri Glenn of Waynesville, Ohio, and Penny Woods, of McDonough, Georgia. She was a daughter of the late Herman and Evelyn Marble of Collins, New York.
She attended the University of Buffalo and then Niagara University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in social work. She was the longtime office manager of Hartwell Marina.
Lynette was first and foremost a mother, extending her boundless care to far more than her own children. Anyone who knew her would attest that she was a woman who always put the needs of others before her own, even as she bravely fought this terrible disease. She had a deep love for animals and rescued and cared for many pets throughout her life, which ranged from dogs and cats to an injured Carolina wren.
It would be impossible to list the number of people who benefitted from her selfless generosity in the space provided here. Among the many people she loved as if they were her own are Shana Brown of Hartwell and her children Austin and Wyatt. Her dedication to her family and her work will never be forgotten.
A visitation will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 10 a.m. to noon at Strickland Funeral Home in Hartwell. In her honor, friends and family are encouraged to make donations to the Hart County Humane Society P.O.
