Mr. Mac Walters, age 88, of Martin, died Monday, June 23, 2008 at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Born June 20, 1920, in Stephens County, he was the son of the late William & Lizzie (Cheek) Walters. He was a retired farmer and logger. Mr. Walters was a member and former deacon of Clarks Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Jewel (Herron) Walters; sister: Georgia Lee Miller; brothers: Boyd & Coy Walters; and one great-grandson.
He is survived by sons: Carroll Walters of Iva, SC and Donald Walters of Winterville; sisters: Billie Ruth McClain of Toccoa and Lorene Kulik of FL; brother: Mel Walters of Hartwell; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Revs. Joey Whitlock and Truitt Brawner officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Walters' wishes were to be cremated following the funeral service.
