Dr. Malcolm Thomas Barksdale, Jr., 87, of Hugh Dorsey Road, Hartwell, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his home.
Born on April 26, 1930 in Canton, GA, he was the son of the late Malcolm Barksdale, Sr. and Mary Timmons Barksdale.Mac Barksdale was a graduate of the University of Georgia, School of Veterinary Medicine where he received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He also was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, National Association for Amateur Radio and United Flying Octogenarians.Dr. Barksdale was an elder of the Sharon Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife: Alice Holmes Barksdale; two daughters: Georgia Dodge and her husbandJulian of Ft. Mitchell, KY, Allison Humphrey and her husband Curtis of Milton, IA; one step-daughter: Diane Smith of Newnan, GA; two step-sons: Mark Smith and his wife Kim of Newnan, GA, David Smith of Edina, MN; one sister: Carolyn Linger and her husband Wil of Smiths Grove, KY; grandchildren: Seth Mitchell, David Dodge, Amanda Dodge, Ian Smith (Betsy), Emily Munoz (Jose), Harper Smith, Sebastian Smith, Eda Clare Smith, Lauren Smith, David Smith; great-grandchildren: Dominic Munoz, Hayden Humphrey and Ellie Jo Humphrey also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sharon Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Lugo officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. The family is at the home.
