Ms. Marcella Faye (Day) Varnes Floyd, age 72, formerly of Royston, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born January 19, 1938, in Dayton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Roy Walter and Lula Mae (Grayson) Day. She was an avid cook and enjoyed baking cakes and crocheting blankets for her family and friends. Ms. Floyd loved spending time with her family and was very dedicated to her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Garland and Lester Day; and grandchild: Dakota Varnes.
She is survived by sons: Randy Varnes & wife Liane of Cleveland, Karl Varnes & wife Sherry of Lavonia,and Danny Varnes of Martin; daughters: Karen Hall & husband Brian of Jefferson and Tammy Lampp & husband Walter of Martin; brother: Richard Day; sister Erma Henson; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Stewart and Rev. Tim Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at their respective homes.
