Margaret (Bailey) Conwell (age 92) died on March 11, 2020 in Peachtree City, GA.
Margaret was lovingly known by her family as Mama. She was born to Andrew Virgil and Evalena Bailey in Red Hill, Georgia, on May 31, 1927. She grew up in the Red Hill community and attended Piedmont College. There she met Walter Baxter Conwell who she married on August 15, 1947.
Margaret and Baxter were married for 53 years, until his death in 2000. They lived in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. In 2018, Margaret moved from Anderson, SC to the Arbor Terrace Senior Living community in Peachtree City to be close to her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, MaryNell Whiten, her brother, John Bailey, and brother, James Bailey. Mama was a loving and adored mother and grandmother. Her children include Craig Conwell of Staunton, VA and Brent Conwell (and wife, Connie) of Peachtree City, GA. Grandchildren include Andy Conwell (and Liz), Bailey Robinson (and John), Cary Conwell (and Caroline) and Libby Conwell. She has one great-granddaughter, Ellie. Mama dearly loved her family and enjoyed their visits. Her wonderful meals and desserts were very special.
Margaret actively volunteered in her community, and loved to play bridge with friends.
Graveside services were postponed due to COVID 19 Pandemic.
She will be buried with her husband in Lavonia City-Burgess Cemetery, on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charitable organization of choice.
