Mrs. Margaret Powell Frye, 84, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.

Born on October 2, 1940 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Cleo Powell and Lillie Mae Hubbard Powell. Mrs. Frye was a retired rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, and formerly employed at Starr Mill. She was also a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church where she taught the Eliza Cobb Sunday School class, was a former choir member, and served on various committees. Margaret was also part of the Dairy Queen Coffee Club, avid wood worker, and enjoyed exploring her family ancestry.

Survivors include her daughter: Elaine Jones of Hartwell; two sons: Bill Frye (Sylvia) of Great Falls, MT, and Bob Frye (Becky) of Hartwell; eleven grandchildren: Adam Lee (Courtney), Justin Lee (Bliss), Jamie Tanner (Chris), Nolan Jones, Jessie Price (Tom), Jake Frye, Anna Vera (Marcelo), Erik Frye, Bethany Laffey (Mike), Josh Frye (Brooke), Cody Frye (Talia); and fifteen great-grandchildren: Tristan Hooper, Teagan Hooper, Taige Hooper, Elijah Tanner, Sam Tanner, Magnolia Lee, Willow Lee, Banks Lee, Jackson Scroggins, James Lee, Chandler Laffey, Jayanna Frye, Hugh Frye, Carter Frye, and Henry Frye. Mrs. Frye is preceded in death by her parents; husband: William Hugh Frye; one son: William Hugh Frye Jr; one brother: Bud Powell; and four sisters: Hazel Mackey, Hermie Crump, Elizabeth Hart, and Doris Weaver.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Memorial services for Mrs. Margaret Frye will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Nate Bunner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity one's choice.
