Marguerite Maret LeCroy, 91, of Lavonia, died peacefully at her home on November, 1, 2010.
Mrs. LeCroy was born February 24, 1919 in Franklin County, GA.She was the daughter of the late Karl and Sophia Randall Maret. Mrs. LeCroy worked for Northeast Georgia Bank and later served as the school secretary for Air Line Elementary School in Hart County for 22 years before her retirement in 1988. In 1982, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe LeCroy, who served as Principal of Air Line School. She was a loyal member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class, served as Secretary for the Junior Youth Department for many years, and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union.She was also a member of the Lavonia Chapter of the UDC. Mrs. LeCroy was an avid sports fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn and her husband, Michael Poole of Athens; and Marie and her husband, JohnGaraventa of Manchester, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Lee Poole and Mark Poole of Athens, Andrew Garaventa and Lauren Garaventa of Manchester, CT;two brothers, Randall (Susan) Maret and Charles (Sarah) Maret, and sister-in-law, Lenora Maret, all of Dalton;five sisters, Henrietta Mabry and Sue Maret of Lavonia, Jo Nix of Hamilton, Elaine (Lendon) Gibbs of Royston, and Bette (Bob)Cowles of Marietta; plus many wonderful nieces and nephews.She was affectionately called "Re" by her family.
Mrs. LeCroy was also preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Jackson of Royston and Annie Laura Akin of Lavonia, and one brother, Karl Duane Maret of Dalton.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Strickland Funeral Home on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia.Funeral Services for Mrs. LeCroy will be held at the Lavonia First Baptist Church at 3:00pm on Friday, November 5, 2010.
