Mrs. Marie McGee Herring, 98, of 2262 Royston Hwy, Hartwell, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Hart Care Center.

Born in Asheville NC on February 28, 1914, she was the daughter of the late James Albert McGee and Sally L. Pruitt McGee.She was a homemaker and a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Claude S. Herring of the home; a son, Mike Herring and his wife Brenda of Hartwell; a sister, Elton Bryson of Hartwell; four grandchildren, Rhonda White, Todd Wilson, Michelle Herring and Jonathan Herring and five great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Herring was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Wilson; a grandson, Brian Wilson; three sisters, Dot Estes, Edna Adams and Minnie Clyde McGee and three brothers, Marvin McGee, Benson McGee and Quinton McGee.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Claude Herbert and Rev. Richard Hoard officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.The family is at the home.Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Blvd, Suite 10, Atlanta GA 30345.
