Obituary

Mrs. Marjorie Carter Allen, age 82, of 221 New Hope Road – Canon, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Born November 14, 1928 in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Andrew Carter and Pearl Shelton Carter. She retired from Lavonia Elementary School as a lunchroom attendant. Mrs. Allen was a member of Bowersville Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles William Allen; brothers: Claude Carter, Hubert Carter, Milford Carter, Ray Carter, Charles Carter, Ernest Carter, and Sam "Jack" Carter; and sisters: Goldie Bowman, Daisy Alexander, Molly Pears, Maggie Swafford, and Dora Bell Carter.
She is survived by 9 children: Rev. Gettis Allen of Canon, Rev. Rodney Allen of Dawsonville, Lamar Allen of Canon, Rev. Bobby Joe Allen of Canon, Douglas Allen of Canon, Edward Allen of Royston, David Allen of Goldmine, Patricia (Allen) Dobbs of Royston, and Joyce (Allen) Bragg of Canon; sister: Elizabeth "Lee" Barnes of Bowersville; 26 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Bowersville Church of God with Rev. Gettis Allen and Rev. Rodney Allen officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:30 p.m. until the service. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating.
The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Bowersville Church of God.
