Mark Wayne Smith, age 57, of Lavonia, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens.
Born August 17, 1961, in Saltville, VA, he was the son of Sue (Taylor) Smith and the late Edward F. Smith. Mark was a carpenter by trade and a Christian by faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife: Beverly (Mauldin) Smith; and a son: Keith Smith.
He is survived by his mother: Sue (Taylor) Smith; daughter & son-in-law: Maggie & Cody Jackson; daughter: Kristy Smith; grandchildren: Nate Noble, Ellic Jackson, Jessie Peppers, Braley Roach, and Trinity Roach; sisters & brothers-in-law: Cheryl & Ted Humbert and Susan & Tony Booher; brother: Ron Smith, and his girlfriend Caroline Tyson; brother & sister-in-law: Jeremy & Laura Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Josh Harvill officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service. Mark will be cremated in accordance with his request.
