Mr. John Marshall Cordell, 87, of Bio Church Road, Nuberg Community, Dewy Rose GA, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at his home.

Born on April 1, 1931 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Harry H. Cordell and Ruby Fleming Cordell.Mr. Cordell retired from Winn Dixie Stores, where he was Director of Merchandising, a member of Gideons International and the Sons of the Revolution.He was also a member of the Bio Baptist Church, Mary Reid Sunday School Class and a former Deacon and Trustee.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years: Kathleen Mann Cordell; two sons: Michael Cordell of Asheville NC and Jeffrey Cordell of Pendleton SC; three granddaughters: Elizabeth Stamps of Isle of Palms SC, Sarah Cordell of Clemson SC and Claire Cordell of Pendleton SC and a great-granddaughter: Hannah Stamps also survives.Mr. Cordell, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by a grandson: John Marshall Cordell II and a brother: Thomas Cordell.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Dale Zaboroskie officiating.Burial will be in the Bio Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.The family will be at the home. Flowers optional, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
