Mrs. Martha Ledbetter Andrews, age 99, of Lavonia, died Monday, January 18, 2010, at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center in Royston, Georgia.
Born September 14, 1910, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late John & Alpha (Grubbs) Ledbetter. She was a member of Golden Agers Club, Franklin County Home Demonstration Club, and Lavonia First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and volunteered at the Carnesville Elementary School Library.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Hoyt Andrews; son, Calvin Andrews; son-in-law, Ed Kesler; brothers, George Ledbetter & Leon Ledbetter; and sisters, Hudna Echols, Johnnie Sue Cisson, & Gladys Strickland.
She is survived by daughters, Frances Kesler of Westminster, SC; Abby Oddo & Santo of Palm Coast, FL; and Sarah Brafford & Paul of Greenville, NC; sons, Kenneth Andrews & Joyce of Toccoa, GA; Harold Andrews & Dean of The Villages, FL; Roger Andrews & Barbara of Toccoa, GA; Doug Andrews & Patricia of Alto, GA; and David Andrews & Eloise of Auburn, GA; daughter-in-law, Frances (wife of Calvin) Andrews of Lavonia, GA; sisters, Ruby Sheriff of Covington, GA; Margaret Thomason of Toccoa, GA; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Brafford, Dr. Steve Andrews, Dr. Larry Finger, & Rev. Richard Bielski officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Lavonia First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 47, Lavonia, GA 30553.
