Martha Smith Beasley, age 79, of Lavonia, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

She was born September 17, 1944, in Franklin County, a daughter of the late Hoke and Bonnie Strickland Smith. She was a graduate of Franklin County High School and a homemaker. She was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Don Smith, Alfred Smith, Freddie Smith, Butch Smith, Doug Smith, and Mason Smith.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law: Rusty & Wendi Beasley of Athens; grandchildren: Ava-Cate, Halli-Gray, and Lleyton Beasley of Athens; sisters: Jane Elrod of Lavonia, Rose Miller of Bradenton, FL, Ella (Mike) Bridwell of Athens, Alice Allen of Nichols, and Debbie (Charles) Wilson of Six Mile, SC; friend: Cliff Bobier of Lavonia; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Alan Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Oak View Cemetery in Canon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the service. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Lleyton Beasley, Stephen Guest, Jeff Pierce, Ernie Pugh, Chad Smith, and Charles Wilson.
