Ms. Martha Jo Lewis Carter, 79, of 129 Baker Street, Hartwell, died Sunday, November 06, 2011 at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born on July 5, 1932 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Lewis and Pauline Dooley Lewis.She was a former Ward Secretary at Hart County Hospital and loved to bake cakes.She was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member and member of the Young at Heart.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Dyar and her husband Jimmy of Hartwell and Marsha Vassar of Hartwell; a son, Ricky Carter and his wife Teresa of Hartwell; a sister, Jane Veal of Hartwell; a brother, Charles Lewis of Hartwell; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.Ms. Carter was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Sammy Lewis and Ralph Lewis.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Brewer and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.Burial will follow in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.The family is at the home of Marilyn and Jimmy Dyar, 1844 Junction 77 Road, Hartwell.Floral arrangements are optional and memorials may be made to the Abundant Life Baptist Church, P.O.
