Mrs. Martha Jo Marett Carlton, 92, of Beaverdam Farm Road, Canon, widow of the late Bond Carlton, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at Hart Care Center.
Born on January 5, 1925 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late William Inman Marett and Myrt Icie Welborn Marett.Mrs. Carlton retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Hart Co. ASCS Office after 22 years of service and the Hart County Probate Court after 10 years of service as a part-time clerk.She was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church and was a regular attendee as long as health permitted.She was a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class, Church Historian, Membership Secretary and Church Treasurer.
Survivors include her sister: Clara Marett Lance of Marion NC as well as several nieces and nephews.Mrs. Carlton was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bond Monroe Carlton; a brother: Hugh Dallas Marett and a sister: Mary Alene M. Higginbotham.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. Billy Pittman officiating.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.The family is at their respective homes.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Macedonia United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Peggy Price, 96 Fairview Ave, Hartwell GA 30643.
