Mrs. Mary Martha Wilson Owens, age 61, of 134 Edgewood Drive, Lavonia, died Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born February 16, 1945 in Stephens County, she was a daughter of the late Mary Magdalene and Verner Lee Wilson, Sr. Mrs. Owens was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Owens; a son and daughter-in-law: Cliff and Gina Taylor of Lavonia; a step-son: Mark Owens of Gretna, LA; a step-daughter: Darlene Owens of Gretna, LA; three brothers: Joe Wilson of Waleska, John Wilson of Carnesville, and Wayne Wilson of Toccoa; four sisters: Virginia Kesler of Toccoa, Sara Babson of Greer, SC, Kathryn Wallace of Hartsfield, SC, and Patsy Macomson of Covington; six grandchildren: Chance Taylor, Allen, Kelley, and Dustin Uselton, and Frankie and Josh Brown; a great-granddaughter: Serena Brown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles and Verner Lee Wilson, Jr.; a sister: Laverne Prickett, and a step-daughter: Donna Owens Brown.
Funeral serviceswill be held 11:00 a.m.Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at the Family Life Center of Lavonia First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Richard Bielski officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery.
The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The family will be at the home.
