Mrs. Martha M. Smith, age 96, of Lavonia, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at Hart County Hospital. Mrs. Smith was the last surviving member of ten siblings.
Born April 3, 1915, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late William Keefer & Loretta Johnson McGee. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert Ray Smith, nine siblings and a grandson David Floyd.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law: Virginia & Bill Crump of Anderson, SC; daughter: Martha Jean Smith Floyd of Lavonia; grandchildren: Douglas Floyd, Allen Floyd, & Tammy Wiliford; 4 great-grandchildren & 2 great great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Jones officiating. She will be buried next to her husband at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from2:00 – 3:00 pm. The family strongly request no flowers.
