Mrs. Martha Zeigler, 96, of Hartwell, Georgia, died Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Hart Care Center.

Born on December 29, 1928, in Emanuel County to the late Robert and Eva Oglesby.  She leaves behind five children, Keith (Elaine) Zeigler of Madison, GA, Glynn Zeigler of Greer, SC, Pamela (Larry) Hartsell of Burnsville, NC, Robin (Ken) Leach of Greenwood, SC, Sharon (Thad) Ackerman of Lavonia, GA; seven grandsons, Jonathan Hartsell, Sam Zeigler, Joshua Zeigler, Joey Zeigler, Jeb Zeigler, TJ Ackerman and Caleb Hartsell; three granddaughters, Thera Powell, Jessica Hurst and Andrea Heath; eleven great-grandchildren.  She was proceeded in death by her husband, Arthur Bates Zeigler, and seven brothers and three sisters.

Martha worked for the Effingham County Board of Education in food service where she was loved by many students and teachers.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She had a caring and giving heart which was shown through her many hours of church and community service.  As part of her community service, she served as the curator of the Salzburger Society Museum and was responsible for the Johann Martin Boltzius statue that stands on the grounds at Ebenezer.  Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, quilting, painting and gardening.  She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.

She grew up Methodist and after marrying Arthur became an active member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church where they raised their five children.

In her latter years she was blessed with wonderful care givers who worked at The Gables in Royston, GA and Hart Care Center in Hartwell, GA.  They would all tell you that there was never a dull moment with Martha.

A memorial service will be held in Effingham County at later date.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is assisting the family locally.
