Mr. Marvin Thornton Cobb, age 73, of Martin, died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born November 28, 1938, in Fair Play, SC, he was the son of the late Jasper (Jack) T. Cobb and Mattie Grace Evans Cobb. Prior to retirement he worked for over 33 years at Sibley Milliken in Lavonia. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Cobb was a member of the Lavonia Moose Lodge.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings: Paul Cobb, James Edward Cobb, Johnny Cobb, Jackie L. Cobb, and Frances Cobb Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife: Theresa L. Collins Bowman Cobb; children: Marvin T. Cobb, Jr., Trena L. Bowman Moon, Michael G. Bowman & wife Kathy, and Melissa M. Bowman Pelles; grandchildren: Caleb Cobb, Noah Cobb, Valerie Pelles, Felicity Pelles, Zachary Bowman, Jaden Ayers, Eddie Williams, Mickey Williams, and Jesse Williams; great-grandson: Levi Williams; and sisters: Ruby Stuart & husband George and Geraldine Cobb Carroll.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Lavonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
