Mr. Marvin Douglas Maye, age 71, of Canon, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at his home.
Born April 24, 1943, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late: Albert Lee Maye and Ila Ruth (Murphy) Maye. He retired from John's Roofing and was a member of the Bowersville Church of God.
He is survived by his wife: Sara Frances (Lewis) Carter Maye; children: Faye Young, William Maye, Joel Maye, Hope Hellman, Melissa Turpin, Mary Ann Maye, Missy Lynn, and Stewart Maye; step-children: Kenneth Carter, Shirley Ann Dove, Hilda Thomason, Betty Brooks, and Karen Carter; brothers: Albert Maye, Lumfair Maye, and Richard Maye; sisters: Dorothy Parker and Sara Ann McLaughlin; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-children: Bobby Carter and Maggie Carter.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Bowersville Church of God with Rev. Gettis Allen and Rev. Eddie Umbehant officiating. Burial will follow in Bowers Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
