Mrs. Mary Lou (Harris) Baugus, age 87, of Lavonia, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.
Born July 23, 1926 in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Ovileen (Hunnicutt) Harris. She retired from Lavonia Manufacturing, where she was a winder operator. Mrs. Baugus was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She loved to serve others and will be missed by her family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Clifford Baugus; and brothers: Walter Harris and Henry Harris.
She is survived by her daughter: Patricia Baugus; granddaughter: Amy Crunkleton; great-granddaughters: Gracie Rae & Caraline Reese Crunkleton; brother: Lester Harris, Jr.; sisters: Mozelle Groves and Christine Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Brandon Crunkleton and Rev. John Forbes officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Capital Improvement Fund, 250 Pleasant Grove Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
