Miss Mary Elizabeth Chitwood, 27, of Cheek Lane, Canon, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital, Lavonia.

Born on September 16, 1994 in Royston GA, she was the daughter of Wendy Cheek Risner and the late Dwayne Chitwood.  Mary graduated North Georgia Technical College with an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts, and worked for Haering Precision USA. She also was of the Baptist faith and attended Canon Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother and step-father: Wendy & Bill Risner of Canon; fiancé: Dylan Harvell; two brothers: Wesley & Sophia Chitwood, and Wade Chitwood, all of Canon; maternal grandparents: Joe & Chris Cheek of Canon; step-sister: Allison Owens of Royston; and two step-brothers: Nick Risner (Jenny) of Lilburn, GA, and Spencer Risner (Ashley) of Royston. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Miss Chitwood is preceded in death by her father and her paternal grandparents: James & Nora Jean Chitwood.

A memorial service celebrating Miss Mary Chitwood's life will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Creason officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. At other times, the family will be at the home.
