Mary Allen Cooper, age 80, of Carnesville, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 22, 1943, in the Red Hill Community of Franklin County, daughter of the late William "Willie" Allen and Dorothy Faulkner Allen. She graduated from Franklin County High School and received a degree from North Georgia Technical College. She worked for many years and retired as a horticulturist with Beasley's Transplant Nursery in Lavonia. She was a member of Canon Church of God. Mrs. Cooper was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law: Charles & Leah Cooper; grandchildren: Ashton Cooper and Morgan Cooper; sister: Louise Pitts; and special nieces: Annette Bryant, Missy Brooks, Teresa Thomas, and Jennifer Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Douglas "Wayne" Cooper, daughter: Selina Cooper Farley; infant grandson: Jacob Garnett Farley; and sisters: Inez Allen Burroughs and Betty Allen Spencer.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia. Burial will follow in Cary Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the service. Flowers are optional or donations can be made to the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter,870 Bear Creek Rd, Lavonia, GA 30553.
