Mrs. Mary Jon Giles Shubert, 76, of Jonesboro GA, formerly of Shubert Rd, Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Jonesboro Assisted Living, Jonesboro GA.

Born on October 25, 1942 in Atlanta GA, she was the daughter of the late John W. Giles and Mary Walker Giles.Mrs. Shubert received her BS in Education from the University of Georgia and her Masters in Education from Georgia State University.She retired as a Special Education Coordinator from the Georgia Department of Education and was a member of the John Benson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.She was also a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her brother: Sam M. Giles; step-daughter: Rhonda Shubert and three nephews: Andrew Giles, Ben Giles and Evan Giles.Mrs. Shubert was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: William E. "Bill" Shubert.


A memorial service celebrating Mary Jon's life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, 200 West Howell Street, Hartwell Ga 30643.
