Mary Hendrix Strickland

Mrs. Mary Hendrix Strickland, 82, of Canon, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at her home.

Born on August 19, 1943, in Royston, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hendrix and Ruby Adams Hendrix. Mrs. Strickland worked at the Tri-County Bank of Royston, and was the co-owner/operator of Nature’s Way Waterers for over 30 years. Mary was a lifelong member of the Redwine Church where she held many positions throughout the church, and she was also a member of the Goldmine Homemakers Club.

Survivors include her son: Joey Strickland (Suzanne) of Canon; daughter: Kathy Cothran (William) of Canon; one brother: Charles Hendrix Jr. (Diane) of Canon; one sister-in-law: Peggy Hendrix of Canon; three grandchildren: Brad Cothran (Brittany), James Cothran (Adrian), and Joseph Strickland (Sara); and eleven great-grandchildren

Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her parents; husband: James Strickland; and one brother: Jimmy Hendrix.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Strickland will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Luther Thomason officiating. Burial will be held in the Redwine Church Cemetery with Dr. Tim Baer officiating.

Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Atlanta, 1552 Shoup Court, Decatur, GA 30033.
