Mrs. Mary Elise Sprott Hyland, 80, 2816 Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell GA died Thursday February, 11 at her home.
Born on April 2, 1929 in ST. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of the late W.R. "Billy" Sprott and Beatrice E. White Sprott, the founder of the Little Rock Arkansas Zoo.She was a long time resident of Beaufort SC, where she owned a retail store on Bay Street and a women's apparel store named "The Ladies Room" and later the vice-president of a seashell lamp and lampshade manufacturing company named Ebbtide and Associates.She was the co-owner of the Driftwood Café in Hartwell GA.During her life she was a stewardess, portrait artist, ballerina, Beaufort Little Theater actress, model, and managed the Riverside restaurants in Beaufort and Manning SC and the Lady's Island Country Club in Beaufort.
She is survived by: her husband William E. "Hy" Hyland of the home. Two daughters, Sherry H. Neil of Beaufort, SC, and Terri H. Skelton of Hartwell GA; two grandchildren, Bradley and Sarah Ann Skelton of Hartwell GA
Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish Church of St. Helena in downtown Beaufort SC with a reception to follow in the parish hall.Memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 150 Ben Burton Rd, Bogart GA30622 or to the hospice of one's choice.
