Obituary

Mrs. Mary Frances Boiter "Mama" Hanley, 93, went to her heavenly home Saturday, March 11, 2023. She was at her home in the Cheddar community of Belton, SC, and surrounded by her family as she passed away peacefully.

Born on February 22, 1930 in Belton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Boiter and Effie Watson Boiter. Mrs. Hanley was a faithful member of the Whitefield Baptist Church and always invited Jesus into every conversation as she encouraged all to walk closely with the Lord. She read her Bible and studied the scriptures every day and was a prayer warrior and encourager to her family, friends, and community. She loved gardening, spending time with family and friends, and bird watching with over a hundred birds visiting daily, including cardinals, doves, sparrows, and bluebirds that returned three times each day to enjoy their special treats.

Mama Hanley, as she was affectionately called by all who knew her, is survived by her children: Bobby Lee Hanley (Nancy) of Anderson, SC, Jimmy Ray Hanley (Jane) of Piedmont, SC, James Dendy Hanley of Belton, SC, Kenneth Allen Hanley (Brett) of Atlanta, GA, Maria Hanley Bennett (Jay) of Williamston, SC; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Mama Hanley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years: John Garrison Hanley; a son: Johnny Garrison Hanley, Jr; a daughter: Linda Jean Hanley King and two brothers: Aaron Boiter Jr. and Bobby Boiter.
