Mrs. Mary Kitchen McKenzie, 85, of Union Hill Church Road, Bowersville, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at her home.

Born on September 4, 1933 in Statesboro GA, she was the daughter of the late Rev. William Kitchen and Sadie Woodcock Kitchen.Mrs. McKenzie was a retired secretary for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.She was also a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church and the WMU.

Survivors include her husband: Condle D. McKenzie; two sons: Devoy McKenzie Jr (Laura) and Michael McKenzie all of Pensacola, FL; one daughter: Cathy McKenzie of Bowersville; one brother: Rev. William Kitchen III of Eatonton, GA; one sister: Carolyn McCahan of Gainesville, GA; three grandchildren: Elizabeth McKenzie, Brian McKenzie and David Powell.Mrs. McKenzie was preceded in death by her parents; and one son: Marion McKenzie.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning.Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Sean Payne and Rev. William Kitchen III officiating.

The body will be taken to Higgs Funeral Home, Soperton GA, where the family will receive friends Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.Funeral services will be Friday, January 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Higgs Funeral Home with Rev. Joshua Johnson officiating.Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery, Soperton GA.
