Mrs. Mary Alice Brown Morris, 83, of Mt. Olivet Rd, Hartwell, died Sunday, August 01, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens, GA.

Born on April 15, 1927 in Bowman GA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Vandiver Brown and Alma Colvard Brown.She was a retired administrative assistant from NVF Corporation.She was a member of the, Gideons International, Ladies Auxiliary, Hart County Camp; John Benson Chapter of the DAR and Hartwell Pilot Club.Mrs. Morris was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where she served in various positions including Clerk and Church Secretary.She was a member of the Fidelis SS Class, W.M.U. and was a former teacher of various Youth and Children's SS Classes.

Survivors include her Son, Dr. C. Van Morris and his wife Libby of Athens; Daughters, Lynn M. Verdery and her husband Wink of Cornelia and Lauren M. Hudson and her husband Paul of Lawrenceville; eight grandchildren, John Morris & Christina, Cash Morris & Jacki, Mary Verdery Williams, Tom Verdery, Catherine Verdery, Van Slusser, Kate S. Ledbetter & Joel and Paige Slusser; four great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband, Owen R. Morris and a sister, Ina Ruth Brown Coe.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Morris and Rev. Joe Black officiating.Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday night.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Mt.
