Mrs. Mary Alice Fort Oglesby, 101, of 1036 Lightwood Road, Hartwell, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Hart County Hospital.
Born on July 10, 1910 in Dublin Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Theodious U. Fort and Alice Jackson Fort.She was a graduate of Georgia College & State University and retired from the Georgia State Department of Family and Children Services.Mrs. Oglesby was a member of the Hartwell First Baptist Church, where she was a former youth department director and Sunday School teacher and a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her two sons, Edward J. Oglesby and his wife Faye of Charleston SC and Fort M. Oglesby and his wife Janet of Hartwell; five grandchildren, Michelle Oglesby, Farah O. Randolph, Julie O. Fulbright, Greg Oglesby and Reese Oglesby and seven great-grandchildren, Chase Randolph, Haley Randolph, Payne Oglesby, Tucker Oglesby, Lawson Fulbright, Sam Fulbright and Sydney Fulbright also survive.Mrs. Oglesby was preceded in death by her husband, Reese Johnson Oglesby and ten brothers & sisters.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. Steve Williams and Rev. Carter Tucker officiating.Burial will be in the Northview Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning.The family is at the home of Fort & Janet Oglesby, 1162 Lightwood Road, Hartwell.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Hartwell First Baptist Church, 81 E.
