Mrs. Mary (Gray) Owens, age 77, of Lavonia, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born October 22, 1934 in Hart County she was the daughter of the late Omer and Missouri Gray. She worked for Stone Manufacturing as a seamstress. Mrs. Owens was a member of Bowersville Baptist Church and Compassion Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son: Craig Scott Owens of Lavonia; sisters: Mollie Peeples of Loganville and Nell Hill of Carnesville; and a number of nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents: husband: William Ray "Pete" Owens; sisters: Mozelle Cape, Jean Cawthon & Gladys Freed; brothers: Ivey Gray, Joe Fred Gray & Harris Gray.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Compassion Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Carson, Rev. Rob Hill, & Rev. Connie Ivester officiating, the body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens - North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
