Mrs. Mary Jane Reed, 82, of 656 Vickery Street, Hartwell, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Hartwell Health Care Center.

Born on December 17, 1928 in Hart County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Grady Bryson.She retired from the Hartwell Company and was a member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church where she was a former member of the choir and president of the Lida Sunday School Class.She was also a past president of the W.M.U. of Reed Creek, a member of the Golden Agers, and a member of the Reed Creek Singing Grays.

Survivors include one daughter: Mary Ann Ayers; two sons: James Larry Reed of Hartwell, and Gerald Wendell Reed of Elberton; one brother: Bill Bryson of Canon; one sister: Evelyn Freedman of Anderson, SC; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband: James Haskel Reed.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Sam Dulaney, Mr. Fred Greenway, and Rev. Carter Tucker officiating.Burial will follow in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday night.The family is at the home.Floral arrangements are optional and memorials may be made to the Reed Creek Baptist Church, 116 Boleman Hill Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.
