Miss Mary Lois Scott, age 78, of 93 Coach Road – Lavonia, died Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born November 5, 1928, in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late Alan Scott and Bernice Mae (Whiting) Scott. She was a homemaker and worked and was hostess at Alexander's Flowers. Miss Scott attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a member of the Willing Worker Sunday School Class. She never met a stranger and was always showed care and concern for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents: Sam & Molly (Collins) Whiting; uncles and aunts: Fred & Jane Whiting, Clarence & Gynell Whiting, and Clarence & Cleo (Whiting) Alexander.
She is survived by uncle and aunt: Guy & Faye Whiting of Hartwell; cousins: Joe & Geneva Alexander of Lavonia, Morris & Helen Oliver of Eastanollee, Hugh & Shirley Alexander of Martin, Billy & Sharon (Alexander) Johns of Lavonia, Harold Alexander of Martin, Susan Alexander of Lavonia, and several other cousins.
The family will be at the Alexander home, 895 Gumlog Road, Lavonia, and will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour. Flowers are optional or donations may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1333 Pleasant Hill Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2007 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Umbehant and Dr. Ross Layne officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
