Mrs. Mary Ann (Atkinson) Watson, age 88, of Lavonia, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born November 8, 1922, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Thomas Atkinson and Minnie Estelle (Crowe) Atkinson. She was raised in the Liberty Community and retired from Lavonia Elementary School as a lunchroom worker. Mrs. Watson was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Trantrell Watson and brother: Eldridge "Hoss" Atkinson.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Judy & Ron Walters of Lavonia; son: Darby Watson of Lavonia; grandson: Christopher Watson of Lavonia; sister-in-law: Zurlene Atkinson of Bristol, FL; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Lavonia First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Finger, Rev. Mike Smith, and Rev. Richard Bielski officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at their respective homes.
