Mary Frances Mason White died peacefully on July 20, 2018 after a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Lavonia, Mrs. White was born June 5, 1932, the only child of W.C. Mason, Jr. and Inez Vickery Mason.A 1949 graduate of Lavonia High School, she greatly enjoyed attending class reunions and maintaining friendships with her classmates.She was a 1954 graduate of the University of Georgia, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. A member of Kappa Delta sorority, she was crowned Sweetheart of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity in 1953. Mrs. White taught school in Elbert and Franklin Counties for a number of years, and was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.Her fondness of golf gave way to bridge later in life.She will be remembered for her kind smile, soft voice, and patient nature.
Survivors are her children, Robin Jarrard (Robert), Macon, and Mason White (Lisa), Savannah, and her granddaughters, Mary Beth Jarrard, Atlanta, and Bonnie and Karen Jarrard, Macon. She is also survived by her cousin Carol (Sam) Crenshaw of Lavonia.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Lavonia City Cemetery on August 18 with Dr. Larry Finger officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at the First Baptist Church.
