Mrs. Marylan Kohl, 83, of Elberton, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at her home. Marylan was formerly Frances Marylan Hewell of Gillsville, GA. She was the wife of the late Randy Kohl for 43 years.
Born on May 8, 1938 in Gillsville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Jack Howard Hewell and Kathleen Griffin Hewell. Marylan has served in the US Air Force, has been a member of the Augusta Garden Club, and worked with Randy on several Georgia hospital foundations. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
She is survived by and the beloved mother of Richard (Pam) Kohl, Kathy Kohl, and Lisa Kohl Blackmon. She will also be missed by her seven grandchildren: Jenny (Brian) Barefoot, Alissa (Anthony) Harley, Nikolaus Kohl, Ashley Blackmon, Taylor (Logan) Bonds, Sydney Blackmon, Dillon Blackmon; and six great grandchildren: Bella, Rollins, Makayla, Anthony, Carolyn, and Zachary. She is also survived by her four brothers: Johnny, Milton, Steve, and Tony Hewell; and two sisters: Vivian O'Kelley and Margaret Ivester who reside with their families in Georgia and Alabama. They will miss her presence at the monthly Hewell get together.
Mrs. Kohl is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers: Joe, Bobby, and Jimmy; and two sisters: Helen and Priscilla.
It was Marylan's wishes to be cremated and a memorial mass will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Rafael Castaño and Rev. Bobby Ivester officiating. A visitation will follow the service in the Founders Hall.
