Obituary

Mrs. Mary Aleene Jackson Basinger, 83, of 28 South College Avenue, Hartwell, peacefully died Sunday, Oct 28, 2012 at Lake Pointe Assisted Living.

Born on June 15, 1929 in Mayfield, GA, she was the daughter of the late Reams Crawford Jackson and Vera Alsabrooks Jackson. Mrs. Basinger was retired from the Hart County School System where she taught music for 34 years.She was a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church and the former pianist and choir director, a member of the UMW, Sallie Harper Circle, Sojourners and Sunshine Club, and the Hart County Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include three daughters: Melanie Basinger Black and her husband Joel of Hartwell, Milicent Basinger Townsend and her husband Todd of Hartwell, and Linda Basinger Bell of Atlanta. seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Basinger was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, M. Herman "MH" Basinger, Jr.; a daughter, Marsha Jean Basinger; and a brother, Jesse Jackson.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.In lieu of flowers, special memorials can be made to the Hartwell First United Methodist Church Music Fund, 200 E. Howell Street, Hartwell, GA30643.
