Mr. Mathew Ray Risner, 34, of Hartwell, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Wellstar Medical College of Georgia, Augusta GA.

Born on September 16, 1990 in Royston GA, he was the son of Debora Saylors Risner and the late Danny Allen Risner.  Matthew loved hunting, fishing, playing video games and working on old cars.  He was also of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his mother: Debora Risner of Bowersville; a brother: Daniel Risner (Jessica) of Woodruff SC; three sisters: Lori Black (Dwain Neese) of Canon, Tina Risner (Allen Walters) of Piedmont SC and April Lee of Bowersville; several nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.  Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mr. Matthew Risner will be Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Grant Myerholtz officiating.  Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to defer medical and funeral expenses.
