Mrs. Mattie Ruth Bailey Blackmon, 88, of Lankford Road, Bowersville, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson.

Born on July 27, 1926 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel L. Bailey and Lena McLane Bailey.Mrs. Blackmon was a retired inspector for Gip's Mfg and a member of the Bowersville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter: Ann Powell & her husband Ellis of Anderson; a son: Lee Blackmon & his wife Janet of Watkinsville; four grandchildren: Bradley Powell & Jennifer, Angie Gray & Kevin, Leah Dorsey & Nick and Sara Bailey & Matt and three great-grandchildren: Richard Gray, Asher Grace Bailey and Levi Dorsey.Mrs. Blackmon was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Ed Blackmon; two brothers: Ralph Bailey & Howard Bailey and two sisters: "Bill" Maret & Lillie Sanders.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Connie Ivester and Rev. Ben Coleman officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
