Mrs. Maureen Koch Thurber, 82, of Flowering Drive, Grayson GA, formerly of Hartwell, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at Gwinnett Medical Center, Lawrenceville GA.

Born on August 12, 1935 in Milwaukee WI, she was the daughter of the late Walter Koch and Leona Loepke Koch.Mrs. Thurber spent most of her career as a pastor's wife. Her husband Reverend William J. Thurber Sr. preceded her in death in 2010.She was a former member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Hartwell and was a member of the Oak Road Lutheran Church in Lilburn GA.

Survivors include two sons: William J. "Bill" Thurber of Grayson GA and Thomas P. "Tom" Thurber of Hartwell; a daughter: Ruth Pierce of Hattiesburg MS; four grandchildren: Allison, Jessica, Megan and Amy and three great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Thurber was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a brother: Roger Koch.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 12 noon at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Matthew Cawthorn officiating.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church, 691 Benson Street, Hartwell, GA 30643.
