Mr. Max Herman Bratcher, age 79, of Lavonia, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at his home.
Born June 2, 1932, in Hart County, he was the son of the late Dock and O'Nell (Carnes) Bratcher. He was a graduate of Hart County High School Class of 1949. He retired from Milliken and Co. Alan B. Sibley Plant as a technician. Mr. Bratcher was a Life Member of the VFW Post 5897 John Whitworth Chapter, where he was the former Post Surgeon. He was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army, where he served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife: Josephine (Elliott) Bratcher; daughters and sons-in-law: Vivian and Trippi Young and Duchess and Kelly Blakely; grandsons: Chip Young, Nick Blakely, and Chance Jacobs; and sisters: Annie Merle McLane and Inez Cobb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Bratcher.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Gary Hulsey officiating. Burial will follow in Lavonia City Cemetery with Dr. Joe Renfro officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Franklin County Folk Life Play "Land of Spirit", 1269 E. Main Street, Lavonia, GA 30553.
