Roger Max King, 59 of Wolfe Creek Trail, Bowersville, passed away September 28, 2013 at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, SC.
He was the son of the late James King and Dora Porterfield King of Lavonia. He was a Hartwell business man, owner of Max King Racing based out of Hartwell, Max King LLC Mobile Home Service, and co-owner of the Lavonia Speedway. He was of the Baptist faith and member of New Union Baptist Church of Eastman, Georgia. Max was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge # 690, where he served as an officer. He was also a member of the Yaarab Temple of Atlanta and the Lions Club International.
Left to cherish his memories are wife, Sarah Crocker King of the home. He was blessed with two children: son, Rodney King and daughter, Stacey Yancey of Eastman, Georgia. And also survived by step children Chad Dickerson of Anderson, SC and Stephanie Campbell of Hartwell. One of his greatest pleasures was helping to raise Bailey Mitchell of the home, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.Also he is survived by brothers Richard King, Melvin King, and Dwayne King of Lavonia; sisters, Evelyn Walter and Rachel Nicholson of Toccoa and Faye Tanner of Carnesville.Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Louise Lawrence and his step-daughter Kerri Holland.
A life celebration will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at the American Legion in Lavonia, GA.In lieu of flowers, special memorials can be made to the Masonic Children's Home, PO Box 4183, Macon, Georgia 31208.
