Obituary

Mr. Maxie Rudolph Spencer, 82, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Kindred Hospice IPU at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born July 30, 1935, in Madison, SC, he was the son of the late Terrell and Dora (Wilson) Spencer. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from Davis Transfer as a truck driver. Mr. Spencer was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church in Westminster, SC.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Simmons) Spencer; children: Debra Kimsey and Mark Spencer; grandchildren: Timothy Kimsey and Tiffany Kimsey Cordell; great-grandchildren: Tucker Cordell and Scarlett & Alivia Kimsey; and brother: Jimmy Spencer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson: Jonathan Kimsey; brothers: Hugh Spencer and J. T. Spencer; and sister: Jane Spencer Robinson.
The memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at The Pointe Church in Toccoa. He was cremated in accordance with his wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
