Mrs. Mayola Lawrence Gaines, 83, of 3408 Cokesbury Hwy, Hartwell, died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at her home.
Born on September 11, 1928 in Homer GA, she was the daughter of the late Tom David Lawrence and Gertrude Waters "Gertie" Lawrence.She was a retired inspector for the Hartwell Company and a member of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies SS Class, UMW, former Sunday School teacher, choir member and had been active in various church functions.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Carruth and her husband Dean and Connie Eaves and her husband Bradley all of Hartwell and Patricia Parker and her husband Rev. Curtis Parker of Winterville; a son, Ricky Gaines and his wife Deborah of Shelbyville TN; three brothers, Charles Lawrence, Jimmy Lawrence and Donnie Lawrence all of Hartwell; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Gaines was preceded in death by her husband Frank Gaines; two sisters, Ruby Evans and Lois Lawrence and a brother, Ralph Lawrence.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Dean Kring, and Rev. Curtis Parker officiating.Burial will follow in the Cokesbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday night.The family is at the home Brenda & Dean Carruth, 3408 Cokesbury Hwy, Hartwell GA.
