Mrs. Melba Sokol Seymour, 91, of Brandonwilde Senior Living Community, Evans, GA, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Doctors Hospital of Augusta, GA.
Born on September 29, 1927 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Sokol, Sr. and Rosalie Bates Sokol. Mrs. Seymour attended both LaGrange College and Augusta College. Mrs. Seymour was a former Deputy Clerk for the Superior Court of Hart County and has worked also as a secretary, caseworker, and real estate agent. She had also been a Brownie Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and participated in civic club activities in Augusta GA and Rome GA. She enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, and deer hunting. Mrs. Seymour was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son: Mark Seymour (Debbie) of Appling, GA; one daughter; Jan S. Patrick (Wayne) of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren: Camron Seymour, Shay Seymour White (Josh), and Russ Patrick (Erica); and two great-grandchildren: Madison Patrick and Jackson Patrick. Mrs. Seymour was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Edwin L. Seymour; and three brothers: Charles Sokol, Jr., George Sokol, and Fred Sokol.
The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
Funeral services for Mrs. Melba Seymour will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hartwell First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Howell Street, Hartwell, GA 30643.
