Mr. Mell William Walters, 90, of 1502 Yacht Club Rd, Hartwell, died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at his home.

Born on September 5, 1922 in Martin, GA, he was the son of the late William Marion Walters and Lizzie Cheek Walters.Mr. Walters was a retired truck driver for Brown Transportation, and was a member and former deacon of Reed Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Andrea Walters Harris of Atlanta, GA; a son, Thomas Mell Walters of Nashville, TN; one sister, Billie Ruth McClain of Toccoa, GA; and five grandchildren: Ashley Walters, Andrew Walters, Robert Harris, William Harris, and Ian Walters.Mr. Walters was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Ostene Bailey Walters; one son, David Bailey Walters; three brothers: Boyd Walters, Coy Walters, Mac Walters; and two sisters: Georgia Lee Miller and Lorene Kulik.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Sam Dulaney and Mr. Mitch Slaton officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.In lieu of flowers, special memorials may be made to Reed Creek Baptist Church, 116 Boleman Hill Road, Hartwell, GA30643.
