It is with great sadness that the family of Melody Blondell Etheridge Scott announces her passing on April 7, 2019. Melody Blondell Etheridge Scott was a longtime resident of Franklin County, GA. She has been a resident of Brown Health and Rehab for the past 4 years.
Melody enjoyed many distinctions including Beta Club honors, National Honor Society, and Honor Graduate from the University of Georgia. Melody was a teacher and taught in Northeast Georgia and Iva, SC area. Melody carried her achievements to her nursing home, where she was president of Resident Council and the Georgia Bulldog Club in Royston. We can still hear her spirited cheer "Go Dawgs"!!!!
Melody enjoyed her dear friends and family greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marjorie Blondell; brother: Ralph Blondell, Jr.; and husbands: Thomas F. Etheridge, in 1993, and Wallace Scott, in 2016.
She is survived by her son: Thomas Etheridge of Lavonia; step-children: Kyle and Janet Scott of South Carolina; granddaughters: Alyssa Etheridge and Stevie Bruce; sisters: Laura Brooks and Susan Kemmerer; nieces and nephews: Kris Brooks, Justin Brooks, KelliKeisha Kemmerer, Andrew Kemmerer, Kasey Kemmerer, and Blondell and other great nieces and nephews, step grand children and great grandchildren of S.C..
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Brian David officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
