Obituary

Mrs. Melrose (Taylor) Sims, 80, of Martin, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born April 26, 1938, in Demorest, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Howard and Irene Hill Taylor. She retired from Stone Manufacturing and was a member of Ruhamah Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her children: William Larry Taylor, Donna Marie Mays, Dennis Ray Sims and Laura Regina Sims; grandchildren: Kenneth Sims, Brandy Taylor, Kimberly Dyar, Amanda Lack, Melissa Adams, Jennifer Hodge, Stacey Bragg and Michael Taylor; siblings: Bonnie Sue Patterson, Jessie H. Taylor, Jr., Diane Teate, Judy Fawcett and Wanda Segars. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: James Clyde Sims; and sisters: Ruth Gatchell and Janie Patterson.
The funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Ellison officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other times the families will be at their respective homes.
