Mr. Michael Cheek Borum, age 73, of Lavonia passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at his home.
Born June 11, 1944 in Toccoa, he was the son of Dorothy Cheek Owens and the late William Henry Borum. He was a supervisor for the Vermont American/Bosch Company where he also worked as a welder and in maintenance. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother: Dorothy (Cheek) Owens; his wife: Mary Cynthia (Guest) Borum; children: Angela (Borum) Jarrett & her husband Curtis and William Michael Borum & his wife Lacey; grandchildren: Kristen Jarrett, Stephen Jarrett, Connor Borum and Carter Borum; brother: Benjamin Cheek; sister-in-law: Sandra Vickery; brothers-in-law: Butch Guest and Sonny Guest & his wife Janice. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his step-father: Johnny Owens.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at their respective homes.
